Chat
took place on Fanfare, 28 October 2007
Before Michael arrived, tadpole1tail recommended that chatters place their name
and locations in the "personal description" line next to their names. Most
people followed that excellent suggestion, as you can see. Although there
was chatting both before and after our special guest arrived, this transcript
begins with Michael's arrival and ends with his departure. Enjoy!

mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
Not here, but people have mentioned things available on their screens I don't
see on mine, so maybe they're all different.
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
You mean the text part?
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Are you using a mouse or the inbuilt one on a laptop Michael?
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
The part with the dialogue rather than our names?
SavvyHaze
(Hazel, Glasgow, Scotland):
Mine isn't doing that, but it's had one or two issues tonight...
Michael_Praed :
I mean the reading the messages part, as soon as I've typed, will scro;; back to
the very first message written. In other words, it won't stay on the last
message. Make sense?
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
Yes, but have no idea why it would happen...
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
Got it. That's a little odd!
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
something about settings, maybe?
Rhosan
(Rhosan from Boise, Idaho USA):
I can't think of how to fix it.
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Ok, strange. Maybe you would need to log out and in again to fix it?

Apart from updating Java

Michael_Praed :
I'm using a trackball. I just removed it. No change. I've now hit my laptop with
a hammer. No change there, either.
Michael_Praed :
I'll live with it.
tadpole1tail
(Christine, Cheshire, UK):
I was thinking the same thing, log out and back in again.
Lucie23uk
(Rita,Christine's mum, France):
lol
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
maybe the laptop wants a beer?
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
Lol. Well.. hit any key...
Caz_UK
(Carol, Epsom, Surrey):
that always works for me - I am not very technical
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
If the hammer doesn't work, other persuasion might.
Caz_UK
(Carol, Epsom, Surrey):
I mean the hammer hitting - relieves stress
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Hit any key? Where's the "any" key? LoL
wolfshead2000
(Richard (The IT Guy), Dublin):
High impact engineering
Staffoflife
(Lorraine,Stockport):
maybe a bit of charm may help eh?
SavvyHaze
(Hazel, Glasgow, Scotland):
Perhaps it's on Sunday night mode... y'know... can't be bothered!
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
maybe it's already been into the beer.
moishouki
(Annie from Quebec province, Canada, so sorry for the way i wrote in

Michael_Praed :
Thank you, Toshki. I appreciate what you've said. Thank you.
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Michael. A question. Are you doing any further narrtions for TimeWatch. Just
wondering if you were doing the Stonehenge one?
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
The exit is to your left, next to the message box. Just don't forget to come
back!
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Apologies for the spelling.
Michael_Praed :
I'll try that, Celeste. See you in two seconds. Maybe three.
danceshadow
(Gerry-the aircraft mechanic from US):

danceshadow
(Gerry-the aircraft mechanic from US):

moishouki
(Annie from Quebec province, Canada, so sorry for the way i wrote in
English):

Michael_Praed :
Someone was asking about DREAMLAND. The short answer is: We were all set to go
for the workshop. We were cast, rehearsal rooms booked etc, etc, And then we
lost our funding. We've now raised half the funding! And we're getting closer
every day.
Lucie23uk
(Rita,Christine's mum, France):
That sounds hopeful
Rhosan
(Rhosan from Boise, Idaho USA):
Workshop?
Michael_Praed :
By the way. The scrolling problem has disappeared. Yee-hah!
danceshadow
(Gerry-the aircraft mechanic from US):
wonderful..Ill be there somehow on opening night...my credit card will have to
cry a bit but worth it
tadpole1tail
(Christine, Cheshire, UK):
Yay!!
moishouki
(Annie from Quebec province, Canada, so sorry for the way i wrote in
English):
Lost the funding?
Staffoflife
(Lorraine,Stockport):
nice one
Caz_UK
(Carol, Epsom, Surrey):
how awful - at least your half way back ontrack. Can I ask what inspired you to
wrie Dreamland?
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
Sorry to hear that. Money is always the big stumbling block.
Caz_UK
(Carol, Epsom, Surrey):
write even
Clareblackledge
(Clare, Flitwick, Bedfordshire, UK):
Hello Michael. Anything we can do to help raise the money?
Staffoflife
(Lorraine,Stockport):
If I win the lottery Michael, I'll know a good place for it
danceshadow
(Gerry-the aircraft mechanic from US):
good one Claire
Michael_Praed :
A workshop is where you get proffessional actors, your director, and you
rehearse for two/three weeks and perform in front of your investors with the
hope they will part with very large sums of money in order for you to mount a
full-scale production.
toshki
(toshki. I.o.Wight U.K.):
M.P. Can I ask who has had the most pround inluence on your way of think/life
and why
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
Where do you plan to have the workshop? Would it be in London?
Rhosan
(Rhosan from Boise, Idaho USA):
Thank you!
Lucie23uk
(Rita,Christine's mum, France):
Have you got any interesting actors lined up?
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
I have an idea for keeping Michael from pulling out his hair... Michael, when
you are ready for another question, just ask for NEXT. That way we won't bombard
you.
Michael_Praed :
There are more Timwatch's coming up. I do one in a couple of weeks. I have no
idea yet what it'll be about. (THE SCROLLING MONSTER IS BACK. NO!!!!!!!)
wolfshead2000
(Richard (The IT Guy), Dublin):
Have you done the Irish Viking Longship Timewatch?
Michael_Praed :
The workshop would be in London
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
Thank you!
Michael_Praed :
The longship one IS one of the ones, yes!
wolfshead2000
(Richard (The IT Guy), Dublin):
Cool, went to see it a couple of weeks ago
bluewatchlady :
Michael, when you have a mo' - any more audio books in the pipeline?
Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
You weren't in Dublin the other week were you Michael?
Michael_Praed :
All the actors for the workshop were in West End shows, pretty much. All the
leads, certainly. We also had a star or two. What their availibility will be
next time? We shall have to see.
_Celeste_
(um, Celeste, Wisconsin-USA):
Hey folks, lets wait for him to ask for the next question.
mirlacca
(Ashley, Second-to-Last Lonely House, Virginia USA):
That must be incredibly frustrating.
Michael_Praed :
I wasn't in Dublin, no.
wolfshead2000
(Richard (The IT Guy), Dublin):
Someone saw your Doppleganger then
Michael_Praed :

moishouki
(Annie from Quebec province, Canada, so sorry for the way i wrote in

Staffoflife
(Lorraine,Stockport):
Michael, please may I ask you, we heard that you were approached for Strictly
Come Dancing, who would you have liked to have danced with had you taken up the
offer?
topdrops
(Ilse, the Netherlands):
Michael, I saw your weddingpictures in the OK! magasine. Celeste sent them to
me. I think your wife looks like Alladin's Yasmine from Walt Disney.
Michael_Praed :
I'm going to be doing a tour starting January next year of the play SLUETH with
Simon Maccorrkindale. (If I've spealt that correctly.) It's for 6 months. All

Caz_UK
(Carol, Epsom, Surrey):

Michael_Praed :
DREAMLAND is a musical-noir. You know the kind of thing: Set in the 1940's,
Private Eyes, Femme Fatelle, Good Guys/Bad Guys, set in Hollywood. The music is
Big Band. Think, Frank Sinatra. That kinda thing.

(Gerry-the aircraft mechanic from US):

perform..and yes..there goes the credit card

Michael_Praed :
Our tour takes us the all over England and covers a large swathe of Scotland as

Janet-Dan
(Wiltshire,England):
