Our next
featured artist is Atsuko O'gawa. Atsuko lives in a
western region of
Japan, near Osaka and Kyoto. She is clearly a woman
of many interests and talents. Although Rembrandt, known
for his quiet masterpieces of contrasting shadow and light, is
Atsuko's favorite artist, her own delightful work is
accomplished in black
and white animae with great energy. A regular contributor
to fanzines over the years, her pieces have consistently won
awards.
Atsuko has a website for Michael called
'His Majesty' (http://praed.hp.infoseek.co.jp/).
If you're talking
about art school or such a course at school, I didn't go to any.
My sister was a graphic designer and went to such a school. I took
American-English literature at university.
What drew you to
Michael in the first place?
I guess many of you
will be surprised, but the first time I saw him was a picture
from 'Nightflyers' on Starlog. I still remember how I felt because it
was
like seeing some famous painter's masterpiece.
What quality
or qualities does he convey?
In my humble personal opinion, he can convince us
(of the) true feeling
or character of his role to our very soul without speaking much.
He doesn't play a role; he is "that" person on movie/play. I believe
it's his natural talent.
I also LOVE his voice. For myself, voice is so much important.
I hate several actors/actresses because I cannot stand their voice.
You used him more
than once: Why? Were they representing different characters?
